Owner and operator of the popular Quilt Basket shop in Wappingers Falls, Kathy Anderson will describe how she started her shop and the process used to develop a quilt pattern for magazines. The Quilt Basket has been around for 24 years, in three different locations in Dutchess County.

For most of us when making a quilt, we have a definite pattern in mind and go shopping at a store (or in our stash) for fabric. Kathy’s process is different when designing a quilt pattern for a magazine. Typically the company provides the fabric, and the shop develops the pattern. Kathy will demonstrate this process and have some patterns for sale that are no longer “owned” by the fabric companies. Join us for a relaxing and different view of quilt design.

The Quilt Basket is a full service quilt shop that opened for business locally in 1989 and online in 1996 with more than 4000 bolts of high quality, 100% cotton fabrics. In addition they are a multiple award-winning Handi Quilter Sixteen representative and a Janome sewing machine dealer.  They are most proud of their own line of patterns, which have been featured in multiple national quilt magazines.
